First to implement an IRA rebate program for installed appliances, NY now offers an appliance upgrade program for heat pump dryers.

New York State launched its Inflation Reduction Act home energy program in May 2024, the first state in the nation to do so. That program covered heat pump, home heating and water heater installations that require contractors to install. Now it is the first to offer an appliance upgrade program allowing qualified New Yorkers to obtain rebates on store-bought ENERGY STAR® certified heat pump clothes dryers.

The program, notably open to both homeowners and renters, covers qualified electrical upgrades that may be required as well, and work required by a participating contractor (for example, to replace a gas dryer).
