  • “Researchers Propose Innovative Telescope Project To Bring Reliable Energy To Remote Communities” • A study shows that powering a new telescope in Chile’s Atacama Desert with solar energy can also support around 66% of the electricity needs for nearby communities, according to a media release from Utrecht University.   • “Serbia Targets 50% Of Electricity From Renewables By 2030” • Serbia’s Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan sets a goal for nearly half of all electricity to be generated from renewable energy sources by 2030, said Jovana Joksimović, the Assistant Minister for International Cooperation, European Integration and Project Management.   • “BOEM Releases SouthCoast Impact Statement” • The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management released its final Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed SouthCoast Wind Project. If approved, the project could generate up to 2.4 GW of offshore wind energy. The proposal includes up to 147 wind turbines off the coast of Massachusetts. [reNews]
