Antioch University New England Introduces New Certificate in Sustainable Business

Green Energy Times Posted on April 30, 2013 by George HarveyMay 1, 2013

Program aimed at emerging leaders in sustainability

Keene, NH, April 29, 2013– If you want to integrate sustainability practices into your business or nonprofit, the new Sustainable Business Certificate from Antioch University New England (AUNE)  will accommodate your needs perfectly. In this noncredit certificate program, students are introduced to sustainability concepts through a systems approach, learning how to apply sustainability to finance, human resources, and organizational development.

“A Sustainable Business Certificate will give emerging sustainability leaders a depth of skills and competencies to support, develop, and launch sustainability initiatives in nonprofits and small- to mid-sized businesses,” said Polly Chandler, head of AUNE’s MBA in Sustainability program and chair of the Department of Management.

The certificate is ideal for anyone asked to integrate sustainability into a business, and to lead sustainability initiatives.  Individuals new to the sustainability field will gain a solid understanding of triple-bottom-line thinking and sustainable operations.  Small- to mid-size business entrepreneurs who want to integrate best practices for sustainability into their strategic planning and operations will find it suits their needs.

Students complete three required courses and one elective from the MBA in Sustainability curriculum. The courses are offered during the MBA in Sustainability’s weekend program (five weekends per semester) and weekdays (weekly classes held from 1:30 to 4:30 pm.) The certificate program can be completed in two to three semesters.
